Meet the Artist:

Colleen Larkey is a mixed media collage artist based in Carmel, Indiana, creating whimsical, color-rich artwork from her home studio. Originally from Chicago, her creative journey began in interior design, where a lifelong love of textiles, pattern, and layered materials first took shape.

With years of experience as an interior designer, Colleen now creates bespoke artwork and surface patterns designed to bring beauty, personality, and timeless charm into everyday living. A self-taught artist and surface pattern designer by practice, her work reflects both a trained design eye and an organic, hands-on creative process.

Her work is an intuitive blend of hand-painted rice papers, collected textiles, patterned cuttings, and expressive forms. Each piece is built slowly—like a puzzle—layer by layer—allowing depth, movement, and personality to emerge. The result is artwork that feels joyful, vibrant, and thoughtfully composed, bringing warmth and character into the spaces it inhabits.

Colleen believes in surrounding yourself with pieces that are not only beautiful, but thoughtfully made to stand the test of time. she pours her heart into creating art that feels as livable as it is lovely.

a bit more about

my story:

I’ve always been a creative at heart—it just has to come out one way or another. Though I originally earned a degree in business, it didn’t take long for me to follow my true passion. I returned to school to study Interior Design and spent several years working in residential design on the North Shore of Chicago.

It was there I met and married my husband, and we started our family with three beautiful daughters. Motherhood led me to pivot once again—this time working from home and exploring the handmade world of Etsy. I launched Sugar Creek Bedding and Sugar Creek Kids, designing children’s bedding and little girls’ dresses. That journey eventually evolved into painting, surface pattern design, and the creation of Bloom Wild Design.

This shop is a natural extension of my love for all things creative. When I’m not designing, you’ll likely find me tucked away in a coffee shop, getting my hands dirty in the garden, wandering through antique stores and flea markets, or cooking with my husband and daughters in our cozy kitchen.

I’m passionate about creating pieces that uplift, encourage, and leave you with a smile. Thanks so much for stopping by—I'm so glad you're here!
